Interior Design styles are the distinct aesthetics defined by colour, materials, furniture and ranging from the clean lines of minimalism to the cosy textures of farmhouse, the bold patterns of Art Deco to Boho and the timeless elegance of Traditional. Some even take a blend of two or more styles to create a unique bespoke atmosphere.
Scandinavian Style
Scandinavian Style or Scandi is a popular design and originated in the Nordic countries known for its simplicity, functionality and minimalistic features. This style uses light colours (neutrals and whites), natural materials like linen and wools and is an uncluttered space to create a bright, warm and cosy interior that emphasises comfort and its connection to the natural surrounds.
Modern
Contemporary modern interiors is an admired and forward thinking style that embraces current trends, innovations and materials fusing various aesthetics. Modern contemporary will focus on the style of the moment and will evolve over time, unlike other styles that will remain specific to a period or adhere to defined rules.
Minimalist
Minimalist design is a less is more approach focusing on simple uncluttered functional spaces using natural palettes (whites, greys and beige) are essential. Using high quality furnishing to create serene, intentional spaces with ample natural light and texture. Minimalistic will strip away excess ornamentation and will emphasize on purpose and balance featuring open layouts and sleek simple forms for a calm environment.
Industrial
Industrial interior are a blend of raw, utilitarian aesthetics from old factories with modern comforts, focusing on exposed structures (brick, pipe or concrete), raw materials like metal or reclaimed woods, neutral palettes and functional sometimes vintage furniture for a rich feel. Industrial tends to lend itself to blend timelessly with other styles.
Farmhouse
The defining feature here is the use of rustic finished. This may include materials such as weathered wood, reclaimed wood or exposed brick adding character and a rough feeling to the space. Farmhouse interiors are practical and comfy, relying on readily available materials and colours
Traditional
Traditional interiors area a timeless, elegant style inspired by the 18th or 19th century European decor. This style will focus on classic furniture, rich fabrics (velvet, silk) symmetry, ornate details like molding and drapes and a warm layered palette with patterns like florals and paisleys creating cosy spaces and a familiar atmosphere.
Mid-Centry Modern
Characterised by its clean lines, organic shapes minimalist forms and a blend of natural and modern materials like wood, leather with metal, emphasising functionality, simplicity and beauty. Originating in the 1940's to 1950's t features include low-line furniture with tapered legs, functional yet stylish. Earthy tones mixed with bold accents and integration of indoor-outdoor living through large windows and open spaces, creating warm timeless and practical environments.
